EFFICIENT QUALITY-ASSURED DATA CAPTURE USING A MOBILE PHONE 16 November, 2017

COURSE DESCRIPTION

This is a hands-on training on EpiCollect, an open access (free) web and mobile (android and iOS) application for electronic data capture. The curriculum will be modular and every session will consist of a presentation and demonstration by the facilitator followed by ‘exercises’ as an opportunity for the participants to practice. This will be followed by discussion and clarifications. Mentors will be allocated to the participants for guiding the participants.

REGISTRATION

The number of participants is limited to only 25 and the registration will be done on first come first serve basis. Rs.1000/- per participants will be collected at the time of registration. Interested participants who wish to attend this workshop may provisionally register by sending a mail with their Name, Designation, Address, Contact details, email ID, Mobile number to the address mentioned in contact details. Course fee includes Course Material, Lunch and Refreshments. Participants will have to arrange for their own travel, boarding and lodging.

PRE-REQUISITES:

Participants should be familiar with the Windows™ operating system and bring their personal laptops running Windows™ and android (4.4+) or iOS (8+) based mobile phones with internet connection.

RATIONALE

Electronic data capture using mobile phones combines both data collection and data entry into a single step. This provides a possibility to save time, costs and manpower; and prevents both data collection and data entry errors simultaneously with data checks and skip patterns incorporated. The use of mobile phones provides feasible, convenient and user-friendly option to capture data.

 

Who can participate?

The course will be suitable for the faculty and postgraduate students, statisticians, data entry operators, research assistants, PhD students and public health researchers, as the workshop will be more focused on hands on training.
