Born: 01.02.1971
Tulika Goswami Mahanta is currently the HOD of Community Medicine, Assam Medical College. She has completed her MBBS from Dibrugarh University. She has done her PhD from University of Central Nicaragua. Tulika Goswami Mahanta has done two years Health Research Methodology Training Sponsored by National Institute of Health (NHLBI) and Indian Cardiovascular Research And Advocacy Group (ICRAG) at St John’s Research Institute, Bangalore. She is also recipient of Australian Leadership Award fellowship at Australian International Health Institute, Melbourne for 10 weeks in 2008. She has presented a paper on CVD risk factors amongst tea garden community at National Institute of Health, Washington DC in 2010. She was the National assessor for effective vaccine management (EVM) under National Cold Chain Assessment (NCCMIS) under NIHFW covered North-East, Gujarat state, Rajasthan, and Bihar. She was also a Central Team member for National Polio Certification Committee – worked for Meghalaya. She has received the first prize for Senior Scientist Award in the field of Community Nutrition in 2nd International Workshop on Micronutrient and Child Health jointly organized by Human Nutrition Unit, AIIMS, New Delhi, Indian Academy of Pediatrics (Nutrition Chapter) & Sitaram Bharatia Institute of Science and Research, New Delhi from 3-7 Nov, 2014 for the paper entitled “Prevalence and determinants of Anaemia and effect of different intervention amongst tea tribe adolescent girls in Dibrugarh District of Assam”. She has participated as resource person in various Health Research Methodology course and Evidence based Medicine conducted by St John’s Research Institute, Bangalore in collaboration with faculty from Mac Master University, Canada, in IAPSM academia and in various State level workshops. She has a total of 60 publications. She has handled various projects, out of which 4 are ICMR supported and 48 are UNICEF supported, and many more. She is a life member of International Epidemiological Association, IndiaCLEN, IAPSM, IPHA.
